It is estimated that the average person uses 300 toothbrushes in their lifetime with over 200 of these ending up in the ocean. A plastic toothbrush takes up to a thousand years to decompose so with worldwide population passing 7.6 billion, it is estimated that over one trillion plastic toothbrushes could start threatening marine life. No wonder scientists are forecasting there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050. Switching from a plastic to a bamboo toothbrush reduces your use of plastic and the risk of damaging the environment when disposed.
The ReFuse & ReUse Bamboo Toothbrush is made from sustainable and renewable bamboo which has been Forest Stewardship Council certified. The bamboo surface is heat treated to give water resistance and prevent bacteria and mould. The bristles have a medium stiffness and are castor-oil infused. The toothbrush is vegan friendly as it contains no animal products and has not been tested on any animal during design or manufacturing. Every toothbrush is BPA free.
To design the ReFuse & ReUse bamboo toothbrush we enlisted the expertise of Dr. Simon Fox, who heads Fox’s Dental Care in the heart of St. Austell, Cornwall. His dental practice has been serving the local community for over 25 years and was impeccably qualified to help. The results were an adult and child toothbrush design that offers a stylish alternative whilst not compromising dental hygiene.
“We are very pleased with the toothbrush and feel proud to have contributed our expertise” stated Dr Simon Fox, Principal Dental Surgeon at Fox’s Dental Care. “We are an integral part of the local community and give a free toothbrush to every patient to encourage dental hygiene. We have always handed out plastic toothbrushes but, having become increasingly aware of the plastic pollution problem, we decided to change to a bamboo alternative.”
