Beeswax Food Wrappers – a centuries old alternative to cling film!
Beeswax, since our hunter/gatherer days, has played an integral role in preservation. Visit the Cuevas de la Araña near Valencia, Spain and you will see 8,000 year old cave paintings depicting honeycomb being collected for home preservation use. During the 19th Century beeswax infused paper was widely used to exclude or retain moisture wrapping a wide variety of food stuffs and everyday items. Using a beeswax infused material as protection has been around for thousands of years.
ReFuse & ReUse Beeswax Food Wrappers are hand made from 100% cotton, organic jojoba oil, beeswax and pine resin. Each wrapper acts like a natural covering for a wide range of foodstuffs including fruit, vegetables and everyday items like sandwiches. They remove the need for wrappings like clingfilm.
Our Beeswax Food Wrappers will protect food from air and moisture whilst letting it breathe like nature’s natural coverings - think citrus fruit peels, bread crusts, banana skins and onion skin. Once cut, these foodstuffs need a replacement natural cover to keep totally fresh for future use.
